Kelas Tahanan Cikgu Hiragi

A drama series I’d definitely rate 9/10 and definitely will rewatch over and over again!!

"Don’t judge a book by its cover." I was so wrong for skipping this last year just because of the title and poster. Even though it starred one of my favourite Malaysian actors, Nadhir Nasar, I thought it was going to be horror or thriller, genres I usually avoid.

And, I finally gave it a try, and WOW — it was SO good!! Honestly regret not watching it sooner!!

Nadhir Nasar as Cikgu Hiragi

One of my favourite Malaysian actors — or actually, I should say he is my favourite Malaysian actor, and definitely my favourite Malaysian director too.

His acting never fails to impress me. Every detail, every emotion, every tiny action, even the tiniest facial expression — he delivers it so perfectly and on point. What’s great about Nadhir’s acting is his versatility: he can play a funny character or even a ruthless villain, and he nails both effortlessly.

Not to forget, his action scenes — every single time he delivered them with so much intensity and precision. It wasn’t just about the fighting or movements, but the emotions he carried through those scenes that made them stand out even more. That’s why I loved watching him in action; he makes every moment feel real and powerful.

This is one of the parts from the drama which I keep repeated for countless times! Didn't see this coming, though! 🀣 Look at his acting and his little dance moves, so natural, so Nadhir! HAHA!

"If it's not kelakar, then it's not Nadhir Nasar."

What makes this role so special is the fact that Nadhir didn’t watch the original version, which was adapted from the Japanese drama "Mr. Hiiragi’s Homeroom". Instead, he created a completely new interpretation of Mr. Hiragi — his very own version. And all I can say is, he portrayed it super well!

He is the kind of actor who leaves a big and lasting impact — the kind that stays with you, making you remember his characters for a very long time. The good things about Nadhir? I could go on all day. Every role he takes feels real, every detail so on point.

What’s so good and highly recommended about this drama?

First of all, the storyline — especially the plot twists — will absolutely blow your mind! That’s exactly how I felt, episode after episode, just getting pulled deeper and deeper into the story.

And then there are the lessons from Cikgu Hiragi. They weren’t just for the students of 5A, but also for the teachers, the netizens and even for us as viewers. Every lesson makes you stop, reflect, and think, leaving a lasting impact on life.

Hiragi was more than just a teacher — he was a truly great one, he was beyond what words could describe. He carried the weight of his students’ pain, protected them when no one else would, and guided them towards the truth even when it cost him everything before he died. A teacher like Hiragi leaves behind not just lessons, but a legacy that stays in your heart forever. He stood up for his students, even when they turned away from him. He carried their secrets, protected them at every cost, and showed what it really means to love and sacrifice as an educator. His presence will always be remembered as the kind of teacher who changed lives forever.

He was once a victim of bullying, and to survive, he became a bully himself. Yet after everything he endured, someone appeared just in time to save him. And because of that, he chose to teach his students the truest values of life — compassion, courage, and integrity. ❤️

This drama made me think of one of my teachers back in high school, who was also my class teacher for two years in my final years. His characteristics were quite similar to Cikgu Hiragi — he was so good and kind, always soft-spoken, but when he got angry, his voice could be really loud, just like what we saw in the drama.

And just like what all the students did to Cikgu Hiragi, they used to tease and bully him all the time. But when it came to our final year, the lessons he taught us left a deep impact on every student. In the end, none of us could bear to say goodbye to this truly great teacher. Even now, 12 years later, I still remember the values he taught us. Looking back, I guess I might have been one of his favourite students.

A good teacher can definitely change your life. ❤️

"Hati orang-orang sekarang ini dah terlampau kosong sampai hanya mampu mendapat ketenangan apabila bercerita buruk pasal orang lain. Yang betul itu salah. Yang betul sebenarnya kita seronok bila kita cakap, bergosip tentang kelemahan orang lain. Sebab apa? Sebab itulah cara kita, cara diorang nak rasa hidup kita ni tak teruk sangat. Fikir dulu sebelum buat apa-apa, jangan bersangka buruk dengan orang lain, jadi orang baik."

"People's hearts nowadays are too empty. They only find peace by gossiping about others. The truth is wrong. The truth is we are happy when we can gossip about other people's weaknesses. Why? Because that is our way of making our lives feel less miserable. Think before you act, don't think negatively of others, be a good person."

Not to forget all the students of 5A — their chemistry was definitely on point! And all the fun on set, all the behind-the-scenes moments, were just a bunch of pure joy.

Plus, seeing familiar faces made it even better — like one of my favourite Malaysian actresses (and one of my girl crushes!), Arabella! And of course, one of my favourite Malaysian actors, Evertts Gomes. Yes, Iris and Farhan are back together in one frame again!

"Fikir pakai otak, jawab pakai hati. Biar buat salah kerana bodoh, bukan sebab bodoh sombong." - Cikgu Hiragi

5A, I love you so much.

"Jadi orang yang baik."

And of course, one of my favourite Malaysian actresses — and definitely one of my girl crushes — Erysha Emyra as Cikgu Aisyah! Yeap, she and Nadhir paired up and collaborated again! LOVE IT!! 😍

Hiragi’s love for Aisyah was on another level!! I really loved how Hiragi always protected Aisyah from day one, ever since their first meeting. And of course, Aisyah’s love for Hiragi was just as strong — she even insisted on being his wife, even if only for a short while.

The love story and relationship between Hiragi and Aisyah are truly beyond words! Who wouldn’t want a relationship like theirs?

From the start, I already sensed something different about the way he looked out for her — it wasn’t just casual care, it was this deep, instinctive need to protect her. And then seeing Aisyah, who could have easily chosen to walk away, instead stand firmly by his side… that just made their bond feel so unshakable.

Hiragi’s love for Aisyah was truly love at first sight — and the same goes for Aisyah. She admitted it was just a little at the beginning, but over time she fell deeper and deeper for him. The way Hiragi spoke to her, the way his eyes looked at her — everything showed just how much he loved Aisyah. And that love was the very reason why he wanted to guide all of her students to become better people. After Aisyah was admitted to a mental hospital due to her severe depression, Hiragi never once forgot her dream.

The part that really broke me was when she insisted on being his wife, even if it was only for a short while. Like, who does that unless it’s real, raw love? The way they both gave themselves fully to the relationship — one protecting, one staying loyal — made me wish for a love like that, even though I know it’s so rare.

Honestly, their story wasn’t the typical sweet romance. It was heavier, full of pain, sacrifice, and choices that cost them so much. But maybe that’s why it hit so hard — because it felt real, like love that goes “beyond.”

What I loved the most was when Aisyah insisted on becoming Hiragi’s wife, even though she already knew he would be sent to prison and didn’t have long to live because of his stage four lung cancer.

A small ceremony witnessed by their class, a ring made from RM10 — the same money Hiragi once gave Aisyah back in their school days when she didn’t have enough to buy books (THAT LITTLE DETAIL!!), and a short honeymoon that Aisyah requested and Hiragi promised (pulut durian cendol πŸ₯Ή)… all of these moments were so brief, yet so full of love. ❤️

We definitely want to see more collaborations between these two! As a couple, from the very beginning right until the end — their chemistry is just unmatched! 😍

For me, in my opinion, I think the ending was an OE. The portrait showed “Dalam Kenangan 1997–2024”, but then at the very end, a man with the same face as Hiragi appeared, saying his familiar quote.

So was that really Hiragi? Or was it a brand-new Hiragi — free from prison, free from cancer?

Use your imagination.

Stoplah being so cute. πŸ˜©πŸ€šπŸ»πŸ€πŸ»

He isn’t just acting — he’s living every role.

My forever favourite anak wayang, Nadhir Nasar.

Tetap runtuh semesta
Kerana bicara mulut tak dijaga
Tetap runtuh segalanya
Tegap tubuh yang lemah
Ku ingin tangan disambar
Lupa rupanya
Selamanya ini ku sifar
